Thousands of People in Dhaka Celebrate Eid with Rally

The Dhaka North City Corporation organized an Eid procession in the tradition of the Bengal Sultanate and Mughal eras today. The festivities attracted thousands of people from all faiths, age groups, and social backgrounds.

The parade started this morning in front of the old trade fair ground in Agargaon. It proceeded along Agargaon's main road, passing through Khamarbari intersection and ending in front of the South Plaza of the National Parliament building at Manik Mia Avenue.

The entire Agargaon area was filled with chants of "Eid Mubarak, Eid Mubarak". The parade featured traditional musical instruments, decorated horse-drawn carriages, bullock carts, and a variety of colorful displays.

The procession was led by a band party playing festive tunes. Participants carried placards with Eid greetings and awareness messages.

At the front of the parade, five beautifully adorned horses were placed, accompanied by 15 horse-drawn carriages. Additionally, 10 puppet shows were organised, depicting historical events from the Mughal and Sultanate periods.

Rezaul Hasan, a participant from Agargaon, expressed his excitement, saying, "I have never seen such a procession in my lifetime, though I have heard that similar processions took place during the Mughal Sultanate era. Out of curiosity, I offered my Eid prayers here and joined the procession. It feels amazing, and this Eid is truly joyful."

Following the parade, a brief cultural program was held in front of the South Plaza of the Parliament building. Artists performed Eid songs, and Baul singers entertained the audience. During the event, the public was served traditional Eid treats like semai, sweets, and batasha while enjoying the performances.

A key attraction of DNCC's Eid celebrations is a two-day Eid fair, which will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center premises on Eid day and the following day.

The fair will feature more than 200 stalls showcasing products from various entrepreneurs and businesses. It will be open from 10:00am to 5:00pm on both days. There will be entertainment options for children, including a ferris wheel, as well as different sports and games.
